Asker: Thank you. But, _all_ the transactions supported by a POS terminal are "retail" by definition, so why would this be listed as a special capability?

Asker: The reason I mentioned buying half a six-pack (say, 4 bottles of beer instead of the package of 6), was that I thought perhaps this POS terminal supports precisely _splitting_ units which are wrapped and assigned a barcode already.
