Lifetime inheritable possession is a kind of limited title to land in Russia
Only Russian citizens had been entitled to exercise the right to lifetime ownership with hereditary succession. After coming into force of the new Land Code of the Russian Federation, no land plots shall be provided for that purpose anymore. But the citizens who had been granted the right to lifetime ownership with hereditary succession still exist and consequently they have such lifetime inheritable possession of land. Disposal of the land plot which in possession under such right to lifetime ownership with hereditary succession shall be prohibited under the applicable Land Code of the Russian Federation; therefore you can neither buy nor sell it.
Thus, a citizen who has the right to lifetime inheritable possession (landowner) actually can only enjoy the right of possession and use of the land plot and transfer the land to his(her) heirs
