Russian term or phrase: рисованный шрифт
This crops up quite a few times in the text I am working (eg in captions like "Варианты 'б' в рисованном шрифте" and in descriptions of typefaces/logos etc. such as "В этом лихо и изящно нарисованном шрифте основная рифма — закрытый глаз — не всегда удачно работает.")

I have found various sources that simply translate it as "lettering", but this does not always fit the context. Could it be translated as "hand-lettered typeface"? I'm not sure, because I don't think a "рисованный шрифт" is necessarily done by hand.

Any help/suggestions most gratefully received and many thanks in advance :)

Explanation:
For unprefixed "рисованный шрифт", I think that you could use "art type" or "hand-lettered," depending on the precise context.

Typical definition:
"Art type is type used as a graphic element. It falls outside the actual realm of type and is much more visual. This can include banners or logos. It can include images composed of lettering or any other ornate of heavily-designed typographic element. Typically art type consists of only a single word of letter and is not part of what people are expected to 'read' in the overall design."

But if you have "изящно нарисованный", then I thin you should omit "hand-" and use the analogous cliche "exquisitely drawn."
As in, "t’s an exquisitely drawn typeface that has the creative quirks and character..." - http://www.typetoken.net/typeface/dalton-maag-aktiv-grotesk-...

Cx. "think" not "thin."
