disagree  Lara Barnett: A foreword is not written by the author. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foreword "Forward" also suggests the section is at beginning of book, i.e. "fore".

neutral  Monica S.: There is also "Prefata" in Romanian for this English term. Besides, "preface" suggests that the author's comments must necessarily be at the beginning of the book, whereas the Romanian source term does not. The asker knows best what's the case here.
