The answer is as simple as this in my experience - type is slightly wrong here and sounds a bit odd. Residences can also be used, but I would go for one of these.

agree  Daisy Waites: I'd agree with Laura. "Type" sounds wrong, "style" sounds more appropriate. I don't want to say that "Community houses" is wrong (it's an alternative), but it suggests a different style of care.
