the whole (great) phrase which gives vibration in interpretation Explanation: From the Romanian texts in the field, it seems to be referring to the conductor looking at the score as a whole, but in the same time paying attention to details. "Phrase" seems to be a common term in music, longer or shorter, the presented context shows the conductor looking at the whole picture, phrase of the musical part. Here are the links and examples in both English and Romanian: http://www.filarmonicapitesti.ro/08tiberiuoprea cv.php “Am ascultat cu reală plăcere partiturile puse în valoare printr-o abordare marcată de rigoare, implicare efectivă în demersul artistic, realizând o sonoritate omogenă, cu planuri expresive bine conturate, răspunzând prompt cerinţelor tânărului dirijor care… The tempo must be a speed which enables the listener to discern the phrase structure as a whole.” http://books.google.com/books?id=yP_0nxswIVgC&pg=PA25&lpg=PA... “…a conductor must not only know what comes next, but also have a picture of the “whole” in his mind…to create this “picture of the whole”, or the “landscape of the score”, the conductor…” |

"the big picture" which lends vibration to the performance Explanation: This could be a nice metonymy, too (music-picture). |
