This is in connection with a casting (metal) foundry defect connected with what is called 'shrinkage (rechupe) etc.

It would appear to be some sort of honeycombing or pitting effect?

Grateful if anyone out there knows the correct technical metallurgical term?

Afraid there is no other useful context, the part effected was a cutting disck in a grinding machine for wood fibre.
