According to the author of the text this is: "um colete especial para colocar à volta do tronco da vítima e poder extraí-la de escombros, carros encarcerados, rochas, etc."

halo vest

A halo vest is a device used to maintain traction forces on the cervical spine, thus preventing movement of the neck. It is typically applied after the cervical vertebral column or the very high thoracic vertebrae have become unstable as a result of vertebral fracture, vertebral dislocation, vertebral fracture/dislocation, or injury to the soft tissue ligaments that support the cervical vertebral column. The Halo traction device consists of a metal halo frame which is attached to the skull by four stabilizing pins, and which is attached by metal bars to a plastic body vest. Ambulation is possible with this type of traction, if the patient is neurologically intact.
