Portuguese term or phrase: H(1) = Hot + 2%

The "ot" is subscript.

This is an entry in a table for the moisture content of different layers of soil in an embankment.

Does anyone know what "H" and "ot" might mean? The subscript text "ot" only appears in the first layer, and the subsequent layers are "H(2) = H(1) + 2%" or similar.

I don't have enough information in the document to guess. Appreciate any help!
