Tech/Engineering - Energy / Power Generation / ferronickel processing
Portuguese term or phrase: injeção de “finos” de cavaco
A report on ferronickel processing using biomass fuels (wood chips):

Modificações no processo incluem a substituição de equipamentos e injeção de “finos” (pedaços menores) de cavaco, o que aumentará a recuperação de níquel entre o minério recebido no forno calcinador e o produto final.

Does this mean the injection of splinters of wood? Or is there another term?

Thanks!

pulverized wood chips injection
Explanation:
By analogy with a well-known technique called PCI - Pulverized Coal Injection

I would translate it as it appears in Portuguese, since this might be a new technique or a particular method used in that plant. Hence "pulverized wood chips injection".

Pulverization of wood represents and advanced stage in the conversion of a primary fuel (logs) into another of superior quality from different aspect...

Although it's possible to use "pulverized wood chips", I found out that this particular company (Anglo American, as I mentioned in another question posted by Sarah), as well other companies in the business of wood chipping, are using the somewhat unusual term "wood chip fines". So I would like to offer an alternative translation:

injection of wood chip fines

Probably the Portuguese term injeção de “finos” was a literal translation of English material from that company.
