Just like ' zbydlecenie it is rarely used synonym for corruption or lowering of the standards.

in my opinion "zbydlęcenie" is really not a heavy expression, but pretty meaningful... and we all know which ways can lead to high positions, and they not always result according to skills or deserts... and this is also what this txt is saying about...?

... or maybe he just used a strong word to describe the situation; are them who behave like pigs safe from strong comments only because they are administration office workers? are they supposed to be seen blindly as high cultured through their positions?

Mark, 'zbydlecenie' is not a word you would commonly use to describe an office situation. The speaker is obviously fed up with the way things are going to the point that his remark sounds borderline offensive. Standards have been lowered way too much.

the link from Polangmar (thx by the way) shows in one thought "zbydlęcenie" & "mobbing", so as far as "brutalization" expresses "cruel or sever treating" I think this might be the accurate translation... ? (not excluding other options, also proper)

a person we can say brute. to me the context isn't as much telling that people behave like a blind cows ;-) but rather than sth wrong is going on about their behaviour, the way they act...

but literary to "działań i obyczajów" (acting and customs) so I thought that might make sense; of course here we are to confirm it or deny and in case of the second option to choose a better match :-) about an animal (bydlę) we say: beast, animal, about

@Mark, well, following the definition of "brutality" there is a meaning: "lacking normal human qualities", "changing to a lower state", "a condition (or state) of disrepair" and I think in this case "zbydlęcenie" especially referring not only to the group

Asker: I think this sounds too extreme for corporate administration. From the context, it would appear more to do with "herd mentality", or blindly following procedures, rather than animal-like behaviour. Or have I got the wrong idea?

Asker: Thanks for your comment - I wouldn't use "bastardisation", but "degradation" (which was in the link you gave) looks like a suitable synonym. "Brutalisation" and "barbarisation" smack too much of physical violence, and I doubt that any office would be that bad
