------- Even in the absence of herbicide-resistant weeds, preplant, in-season cultivation, or post-harvest tillage are excellent methods for managing weeds. - https://www.lsuagcenter.com/topics/environment/conservation/... |

post-harvest field management Explanation: Propozycja. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 1 day 13 hrs (2019-05-14 13:53:38 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Management stresses an ensemble of postharvest activities. ccccc Post-harvest field management tips With harvest in progress and even closing in on completion, the Iowa Soybean Association On-Farm Network reminds growers that just because harvest comes to an end, field work isn’t necessarily over. The delayed spring field work may impact on the field work you need to do this fall concerning weed control, soil loss and drainage. https://www.farmprogress.com/soybeans/post-harvest-field-man... ccccccccccccccc Post Harvest Field Management • After harvest of the crop, the remnants of the plant viz. Straw, stubbles, leaves, etc. are ploughed into soil to decompose, there by providing source of organic matter for the next season crop. • In some places the flock of sheep are housed (penning) during night time. So that the excreta is collected on the field which is also a good source of organic nutrients. • The left over stubbles, plant residues in crops like Cotton, Chillies, Maize, Sunflower etc. may be burnt as part of soil sterilization as to reduce population of harmful microbes and soil dwelling insect pests. • In crops like Paddy the stubbles may be removed by ploughing after harvest to eliminate hibernating stem borer population. Field bunds may be trimmed to avoid hibernating grass hopper egg masses. https://www.academia.edu/12785570/Land_preparation_and_Inter... cccccccccccc Post-Harvest Field Management Once harvest is completed, growers may be inclined to discontinue field work until next spring; however, the manner in which fields are managed following harvest should be thoughtfully considered during and after harvest. For example, once corn grain has been harvested, growers should decide if they should flail the residue or leave it standing through the winter. At WCRC-Fruita, we have found that more residue is retained in the field when flailing is performed than when corn stalks are left standing during the winter. When corn stalks are left standing during the winter, the wind removes leaves and other lighter material and transports them out of the field, relative to flailing the corn stalks. It is important to not chop stalks too low to the ground. Leaving four to six inches of stalk standing will help hold residue, capture winter snow, and reduce wind erosion potential. Taller stalks will tend to capture and hold more snow than shorter stalks, so soil moisture benefits should be weighed against practical management needs. .... https://webdoc.agsci.colostate.edu/aes/aes/pubs/pdf/tr15-10.... |
