Norwegian term or phrase: syning
Context: emergency services provided by the Norwegian Church Abroad (Sjømannsmisjonen). I suspect a typo here, but would appreciate a second opinion:
"På ulike måter delta i normaliseringsarbeidet,- samtalegjennomgang, syning, besøk på ulykkestedet, oppfølging og omsorg overfor enkeltmennesker, pårørende, kolleger."

necropsy, or coroner's inquest

Explanation:
The word is not misspelled.
Syning means visitation of a deceased persono. It can be done in a bed, at an accident site or in a coffin, at a time between death and funeral/burial.
try likskue for a better word for this...

The sentence implies a more psychological rather than legal action, I think. So I don't think I would use coroner inquest...

Asker: But this definition could mean anything between a viewing (or wake) ritual to an autopsy/post morten examination... From the way I have seen it used in Norwegian, I think it's for the former, which also ties in better with my context. Agree

Asker: Agree. Thanks, Jeffrey.
