plumber's assistant Explanation: I still think you are confusing a list of specialised roles or functions with a list of job titles. Hose fitter isn't a job title, or even a job - it's a tiny part of a much broader profession. If I am replacing the bulb in your front left indicator, am I then the "Front Left Indicator Replacement Engineer", or an auto mechanic? My suggestion therefore goes towards the likely competence of a person assigned with this task. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 2 hrs (2011-02-24 12:35:55 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- But hey, if it's the function you're looking for, your original suggestion can't be all bad. Pipe fitters and hose fitters may well attend the same academy, with similar curriculae, for all I know... |

hose technician Explanation: Sounds as if this guy once worked as a hose technician/fitter, and now works in a store. In any case, a hose technician or fitter is a trade and job title. Pipefitter Explanation: Definitely an official job title, at least in Canada. I knew someone employed as a pipefitter in Toronto years ago. Earned lots of "bucks" doing this (maybe because it is so specialized -- or what some would consider monotonous and limited in scope). While it seemed he didn't need lengthy training or a very high education to do this job, it was a job nonetheless. Example sentence(s):
