prayer book bag Explanation: A friend from Klaipeda pointed out that they were traditionally used for carrying a prayer book as seen by the voruta site below. The first site suggests a translation of purse, but the lack of a cover makes its use as a purse unlikely. bag Explanation: http://folkcostume.blogspot.com.au/2011/08/costume-and-embro... Look for the word „delmonas“ – the non-diminutive form. Depending on the context of what you are translating, just plain, simple "bag" may be OK. (I'm thinking of the way women say "my bag" as a short form of "my handbag".) "Handbag" may not be appropriate here because to most (native) English speakers that word suggests a mental image of something different (a more sophisticated, manufactured object). |

purse Explanation: Because Dendro has sent me a note that prayer book bag is inappropriate in his context, since he is presumably writing for an advertisement, not a description of the traditional costume, I am submitting a second answer, namely purse, as the most appropriate for Modern English. |

a belt purse/pouch/bag Explanation: The description of 'delmonėlis' in dendro's image says it can be tied to a belt or a sash, thus a textile/fabric/embroidered belt purse/pouch/bag Example sentence(s):
