illuminated/non-illuminated state

I believe it simply refers to whether the light sensor is illuminated or not. I am not sure whether there is a specific term used for this in English.

beam reception / beam interruption

I think "beam reception / beam interruption" works in this context and based on the sensor beam being blocked when an object being detected. "Beam received / blocked" could also work depending on the tone.
