oromaxillary surgery, orofacial surgery Explanation: Like you said, the official title of this field is 'oral and maxillofacial surgery'. But if they devide in the same hospital, they seem to take on separate jobs in the department of oral surgery. In this case, the title of the subspeciality could be rather arbitrary. That is, they could be 'oromaxillary surgery/orofacial surgery' or 'oral & maxillary surgery, oral & facial surgery' or any other combinations. I would suggest 'oromaxillary surgery/orofacial surgery', but you can discuss with the client. |

oral surgery, maxillofacial surgery Explanation: Oral surgery and Maxillofacial surgery---in agreement with the standard term "oral and maxillofacial surgery", which consists of two separate types of surgeries: oral surgery (顎口腔外科) ("http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oral_Surgery") [n.b., oral surgery includes corrective jaw surgery, thus precluding the necessity of translating "顎"] and maxillofacial surgery (顔面口腔外科) (http://www.facesurgeon.com/index2.html), which focuses on reconstruction of the maxillary and facial regions. The two are often referred as one for their involvement in the maxillary (jaw or jaw-bone) region; the former is more exclusive to dental/jaw bone surgery. |
