during the time between its past and present Explanation: That is a very literal translation, but I think it is what it means. You will have to decide how to phrase it to fit your sentence. The sentence seems to be saying that this piece of the boat has been shaped by the water that ran through it since it has come into use, so its power depends on its past. |

As the boat moves along Explanation: My suggestion would be that 過去 and 現在 refer to the boat’s position at two points in time (where it was and where it is now). The vortex is created by the boat’s (hull’s) movement. So literally ‘in the interval during which the boat moves from where it was to where it is now’ - you could put this simply as ‘as the boat moves along’ (perhaps oversimplifying, but at least comprehensible). |
