protective (cardboard/foam) inserts Explanation: I think this may refer to the protective inserts (either die-cut cardboard or foam) used to 'fix' products inside cardboard boxes. References to both can be seen here: http://www.grosvenorpkg.co.uk/environmental-packaging/ |

top and bottom foam blocks Explanation: Suspecting this is the type of material your text is referring to. have a look at the image link... If so, would go for the term given on that image... Please advise whether this is consistent with the rest of the information you have. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 17 hrs (2012-06-09 00:59:05 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Although, "foam block' is the first thing that come to mind, given current packaging trends, for in-package protection of delicate or large appliances, this discussion has shown many possible and valid alternatives. So to state what material these 「パト」are made of、without any available evidence of that, is forcing the text unjustifiably. Settling for パド, assuming a mistyped input is safer. The problem, however, is that "pad' suggests a soft shield, sometimes made in all sorts of shapes like a screen of air blisters. Yet, "Pad" is also used by some manufacturers to refer to a rigid panel, as Cinefil has shown. Am tempted to settle for "Batt" instead. It would at least have the merit of suggesting an homogenous rectangular panel, even though whether hard and rigid is not, in most cases, part of its definition: most of the images of it screened show insulating batts made of glass fibre. So, am afraid we may not be able to nail this one 100% , given the limitated information of the original. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 17 hrs (2012-06-09 01:11:38 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- (Sorry for all those typos input on the fly: an homogenous --> a homogenous; limitated --> limited; etc...)
