I'm looking for an appropriate English word for this. According to my Kojien dictionary, this term means 北海道でニシン・サケ漁などの漁夫の泊まる小屋。

Explanation:
I think that in this case, just translating "小屋" should be sufficient. Part of my justification for this is that 番屋 has a number of meanings. For example, the 番屋 where I live are fire watchtowers.
