Based on the conclusions of ongoing tumor research, (the)conclusions of the ongoing tumor research Explanation: 比較的 can mean relatively as mentioned in the previous answer, but it can also mean to compare (or the compared). 知見 can mean knowledge, wisdom, or in the case of medical documents it often means observation (http://www.weblio.jp/content/知見) まとまり is an agreement, or conclusion of something. つつある is very important in this term. It means "ongoing" or "continuing". Therefore, the research has been done, but it is still being performed. This should be reflected in the translation. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 1 hr (2012-04-25 09:19:00 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Also please note that "based on" can be more literally translated as "after comparing different findings/observations", but "based on" sounds more natural. Tumour research in the process of drawing together its findings Explanation: An awkward one. I think this basically means tumour research which is well advanced and therefore coming to some relatively firm conclusions/ in the process of drawing together its findings into a coherent picture. I don't think the research is 'based on' the results: the research is producing these results. The fact that the research is ongoing is implied by the fact that the findings are coming together. |
