Science - Biology (-tech,-chem,micro-)
Japanese term or phrase: 集団
分子から集団までの階層を網羅する生命現象

Not being a specialist in this field (this is just one sentence in a doc that doesn't focus on bioscience) I'm not sure what the term would be - from molecules to clusters? molecules to populations?

English translation:population groups
Explanation:
I need more context to be sure. Is this from the Tohoku University Graduate School of Life Sciences? If so, the exact phrase would describe the schools's wide range of research from the micro (molecular biology) to the macro (population groups and ecosystem scale). In the case my assumption is correct, then the discussion will be regarding herds, colonies, and such. Thus being a population group, or an entire ecosystem. Reading their outline for the program's emphasis, they describe their life sciences research from the molecular, cellular, to organism and then inter-organism interactions. The last one would definitely be a population group. hope that helps, and if I'm wrong (check my links), let me know.

agree  AJL MedCom (X): Indeed, the objective of the life science program appears to encompass all biological phenomena ranging from molecular units to a diverse array of life forms. I would consider rephrasing the objective with some liberty to this effect.

-> assuming of course, the exact phrase showing up in a google search is coincidental. It seems unique enough that it would be correct. :D
