Japanese term or phrase: 場面性・時間性
Hi,

Does anyone know how I could unpack these terms to make it easier for the reader to understand, rather than using say "placeness" and "temporality." This is from a book about the anthropology of houses. This particularly part is talking about the different methods of research or analysis applied to the "house" in the literature. One particular approach includes this idea of "temporality."

従来の住居を対象とした象徴論的研究に比べると、場面性・時間性の導入によって建築と人間の関係分析は多様性していった。

Many thanks,

Nick

space and time

Explanation:
My suggestion would be "space and time".
It doesn't really convey the nuance but a child could understand it (though probably not within the context you provided).

Asker: It's simple but I think it works quite well. Maybe also "aspects of space and time" could work. Thank you!

Asker: I like the idea of "place in time." It matches the discussion where the house changes according to it's "place in time" and (in the minds of the islanders) dies when it's inhabitants leave.

Asker: "its"

Asker: You always find really useful sources on such a wide range of topics. I wonder what methods you use. I think its a good idea to use "aspects" or "dimensions." Perhaps "aspects of place and time." Thank you!

Notes to answerer
Asker: No problem. Thank you for your answer and translation of the whole sentence. "Setting" might actually be better than "place" because "place" has another word 場所性 (also comes up in the paper).
