We're talking about parasitic mite infestation in honey bees - I imagine that virtuoso refers to the fact that worker bees are not susceptible to mite attack.

Sono le api operaie che attraverso le informazioni che hanno nel loro genoma, si comportano in modo virtuoso ma, essendo sterili, il carattere deve essere fissato nel DNA delle api regine che poi lo trasmetteranno alle loro figlie (le operaie).
