English translation:bending/leaning of bycicle/cyclist
Explanation:
So to counteract this and keep you from falling over, leaning into the turn is necessary. But is there also a direct causal relationship -- that leaning will cause the bike to start to turn? If I start leaning left, I will turn left... but maybe that's because I know that if I don't turn the steering wheel left, the bike will fall over (to the left).

Lean and Line
Cornering technique can be broken down into two distinct aspects:
Lean is just you and the bike – you can practise lean on an empty sheet of tarmac.
Line is the route that you follow on the road.

-> No, I don't agree at all. Cornering comes up in any type of cycling and motorbike context.

agree  Rachel Fell: Cornering and leaning is what it's called on motor bikes and bicycles in English. "When a motorcycle cornering leans to one side", as GT puts it. I wouldn't try bending ;-)

-> Well quite! Couldn't have put it better myself. Happy New Year Rachel!

agree  Lara Barnett: On researching both terms, I would still go with this one due to the use of "piega", which is better represented by the English word "corner", than by "lean".

-> Yes, its a technical term. Happy New Year Lara

agree  Wendy Streitparth: Leaning, yes. "When leaning into a bend, just turn your head to face where you intend to go and lean with the bike" https://www.silverwing600.com/t6665-cornering-with-confidenc...

-> yes, maybe leaning is better, though bending seems very common too

neutral  Lara Barnett: "Bending" sounds a bit odd , as the bend is in the road, not in the bike, surely?
6 hrs
-> Well, it seems pretty common, both for bike and for cyclist http://www.brainkart.com/article/Bending-of-Cyclist-in-Curve...

agree  James (Jim) Davis: With leaning. I only bent my bike once about 20 minutes before the ambulance arrived. Nothing serious than heavens.
