Italian term or phrase: frigo tazebao
Talking about an exhibition:

ME NE FRIGO – La “social mostra” delle foto finaliste del concorso per frigoriferi emergenti rivolto a coabitanti/coinquilini, a coloro cioè che (con)dividono, per scelta o necessità, il “frigo tazebao”.

Refers to large Chinese style tablet newspapers ("dazibao") http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big-character_poster

Any thoughts?

it seems that they are talking about people who share a fridge on which people attach notices to the other users. That at least is the impression that I get.

neutral  casper (X): a) Could you tell me what a "Tazebao fridge" is, please? b) What would your proposed "translator's footnote" say ? // Sorry, but your suggested translation doesn't convey anything meaningful to my English ears.

-> a) an absurdity, of course: QED. b)Exactly what the asker says in his explanation about the official newspaper.

agree  luskie: to Jennifer (if I may call you with your name): a "tazebao fridge" is the translation of a "frigo tazebao" (to Michael: what does QED stand for? / come volevasi dimostrare :)

'one fridge for all'

Explanation:
Given that Tazebao means wall newspaper, being (to quote Wiki) newspapers ‘often produced by governmental entities in locations where production costs or distribution problems might otherwise make regular newspaper distribution difficult’, I think here we’re referring to a situation where we have only one fridge in a location (i.e. tenants sharing a house). where the cost of having one fridge each makes having one fridge each difficult. So we need to coin a term that gives the idea of one fridge for all……..

…..those who sign up to a ‘one fridge for all’ scheme
…..those who sign up to a ‘my fridge is your fridge’ scheme

-> Tazebao is a political writing, usually on a wall, for consultation - during the fascist regime, messages were often put on walls or in dedicated spaces, a sort of noticeboard.
