Italian term or phrase: sgaggiato
"Una volta “sgaggiato”, il banco di granito viene affidato “alle cure” dei [uniti mobili] che si occupano della riquadratura del blocco di granito".

My best guess is "once the bank has been broken" but I can't find this term anywhere. Ideas?!

I don't know the correct term in English, but the meaning is "to detach/remove" an unstable block of rock from a slope (to prevent it from falling in an uncontrolled way)

I think this is the correct answer as it seems to make sense in the context but it is confusing as I have the term "disgaggio" in the text as well. I have used "rock fall" to translate that term. I'm still not 100% sure of the correct was to translate "sgaggiato" though.
