Italian term or phrase: ramo di colata
I understa that colata is casting and ramo should be something long like an ingot however I cannot find any equvalent. (die casting??) I can't find it in my technical dictionaries.

My sentence which refers back to it several times is "Come fare a tagliare il ramo di colata
con lama a disco?"

Any idea???

gating system

Explanation:
This is what Google Translate offers. Depending on context, you may need to use "strand casting" or "continuous casting."
Quite difficult to define the right term without reading more or seeing a drawing.
