neutral  JudyC: Seems to be mostly used in physiotherapy, where it corresponds to history, but I don't think a woman can "report" on her own portio

-> You all are probably right. I was using a different logic here. Subjective as opposed to objective.

external examination

Explanation:
ES = esame esterno.
I think they're referring to a visual inspection before using any instruments.

"Esame esterno.

agree  Lirka: Thjs is highly likely. // You are right. The only possible other option would be Screening with Pap, but there's a bit of guessing involved. Screening first and the [objective] PE, which normally includes speculum examination anyway.
2 hrs
-> Thanks! My doubt about the other options is that ES is followed by "esame obiettivo ginecologico". // Plus there's no mention of any procedure, just results of visual inspection... I think, but then, I'm not a doctor!

agree  texjax DDS PhD: Most likely

agree  EleoE: Yes, very likely. "esame speculare" = ES.

Screening exam

Explanation:
An alternative to Judy's answer (which is likely), should context speak for it.

Screening with Pap followed by EOG (general/gyn PE), which usually includes a speculum exam.

We need to keep in mind, though, that we're dissecting this mathematically now, but the doc writing this may be much less analytical.

disagree  EleoE: No, ES is "esame speculare".

-> Given my agree with Judy, and the fact that nothing in medicine is 100%...hmm, never mind. Unimportant.
