La notizia ha del clamoroso se si pensa che il politico veronese di Forza Italia aveva annunciato la decisione di lasciare il seggio di Montecitorio nemmeno due settimane fa, l’11 giugno. In un’intervista al Corriere di Verona, (titolo: «Mi sono auto-rottamato e ora torno a lavorare») aveva spiegato la sua «scelta di vita», perché «la politica in questo momento è un mondo totalmente inaffidabile, regolato più dal discredito che dalle competenze». E poiché «sono in condizione di poter avere offerte importanti nel mondo del lavoro, credo sia importante cercare di sfruttarle».

Sempre il Corriere di Verona aveva pubblicato, il giorno successivo, il nome della società che aveva fatto quell’«offerta importante» a Giorgetti: niente meno che Lottomatica. L’indiscrezione ha fatto il giro d’Italia: questo perché Giorgetti è stato sottosegretario all’Economia in tre governi (Berlusconi, Monti e Letta), con affidata la delega al gioco d’azzardo.
