Hungarian term or phrase: Élő szó
Vajon használható ilyen értelemben is?

English translation:talk face to face
Explanation:
"would prefer talking face to face"? vagy esetleg (communicate) "orally"

(a "living word" valóban inkább biblikus)

agree  János Untener: gondolom lesz erre több jó megoldás is, "talk in person" is jó; orally viszon nem hangzik szépen

agree  Julia Prazsmary: talk face to face, talk in person, discuss personally, stb....az orally tényleg elég "furán" hangzik...

vocally

Explanation:
élő szó -- élőszóban (egybe)
Magyar-angol nagyszótár, 342.o.:
Élőszó (fn) word of mouth, -val, -ban: by word of mouth, orally, vocally
Az 'élőszóban' szerintem az 'írásban' ('írott szóban/szóval') ellentéte szerintem - vagyis 'vocally'/'orally', as opposed to 'in writing'. - 'He believes it would be more convincing to express it vocally than in writing' / 'He'd rather express it vocally' / 'He'd rather vocalize his views than put them in writing' vagy valami ilyesmi.

He would rather resort to the spoken word than put it in writing as that is more convincing.

(meet/see/talk to someone) in the flesh

Explanation:
For the sake of preserving that biblical connection, I'd recommend this form i.e. in the flesh

1. alive
2. actually present; in person
