Names (personal, company) / Name from Russia
Hebrew term or phrase: טרפילוב
שואלים האם תחילת השם "טרף" באה מאותה מילה ביידיש
tref
שפירושה טרף או טרפה
ראיתי את השם בגוגל גם בארץ
ויש משמעות לסיומת "ילוב" כאן או שזו סתם סיומת כי כל שם צריך סיומת? חהחה
Gad Kohenov
Israel

English translation:Trefilov / Трефилов
Explanation:
Only a partial answer really Gad, this is the morphological breakdown as far as I can tell...
Треф.....seems to mean (in Russian) "clubs" as in the card suit, "King of Clubs etc"
ил.........not sure about this part
ов.........standard possessive suffix attached to most Russian surnames (ova is the feminine equivalent - Trefilova would be the feminine).

Can't shed any light on the Yiddish connection though, Sorryyyyy! :-)
(Have you considered posting this as Russian-English?)
