well, there is nothing written or said from someone as far as i know...it's just a TV show, like you said.
Although what it means is that now times it's not easy to be a man, with everything that word means.

Thank you. Although you didn't come straight out with a translation, this was helpful: "it's not easy to be a man" - this is what I needed to know first of all, the meaning behind the words (questioning what it is to be a man, etc.).

Notes to answerer
Asker: They're just random words? I was hoping they would be words from a song, or words from somewhere.

Who wears the trousers?

Explanation:
Do you really expect to glean anything meaningful from the title of a TV show?

Notes to answerer
Asker: Meaningful? Not necessarily - but you never know. I don't know whether the title says much about the content of the programme, which is just music, as far as I know.

Peer comments on this answer (and responses from the answerer)
disagree  Epameinondas Soufleros: Not really, as that would convey the opposite meaning, i.e. that men have the upper hand —in the house or elsewhere.

  -> Not necessarily. It puts the matter into question.

agree  Ivi Rocou: The TV show is based on the title of a 'rebetiko' song meaning "whoever wears the trousers (has the upper hand) should deal with the consequences"

Tough Times for the Guys

Explanation:
That's what came to mind now. Maybe I'll come up with a better title for the show—I'll let you know.
I found two occurrences of the expression; find them below, in the example sentences.

Example sentence(s):
  • Finally, it's been tough times for the guys and gals who make (and sell) our favorite toys...
  • These are pretty tough times for the guys who bring you the catch of the day.

Reference information:

Ίσως κάτι σε pants n' bullies ή κάποιος συνδυασμός αυτών;
