Note: In Greece, a ταμειακή βεβαίωση can also be issued in respect of insurance fund payments (IKA, etc.). In England, people normally pay their National Health Insurance contributions together with their tax, but, in any case, since both the tax and the National Insurance contributions are paid to the same authority (HMRC – Her Majesty’s Revenue & Customs), if you owe any money for National Insurance, it will either be included on your tax bill for taxes owed, or HMRC will write to you separately about it.

However, the above can only only cover ταμειακή βεβαίωση as this refers to a person’s or a company’s original tax or duty payment obligations, whereas, in Greece, the term ταμειακή βεβαίωση can apply to a different number of situations. The term ‘tax bill’ can only really apply to ταμειακή βεβαίωση του φόρου, when this is issued initially and not disputed. If it refers to a reconfirmation or revision of taxes or duties payable, it would be ‘a revised tax bill’ ( https://www.google.co.uk/#q="revised tax bill" ) or ‘a confirmation of tax liabilities’ ( https://www.google.co.uk/#q="confirmation of tax liabilities... ), and if it refers to the payment of a fine as in ταμειακή βεβαίωση επιβολής προστίμου, it would be something like ‘the tax authority’s notification of a fine’, or other words to that effect.

If you dispute the UK tax authority’s ‘tax bill’ and go through all of the lengthy processes to do so, HMRC will issue an HMRC ‘tax decision’ (see: https://www.google.co.uk/#q="HMRC tax decision" and https://www.google.co.uk/#q="tax decision" ), and, if you want to dispute that ( https://www.gov.uk/tax-appeals ), you will have to do so in court.

It is important to realise though that a ‘tax bill’ is not only the document detailing the tax to be paid after you file a tax return. The tax authority can send you a ‘tax bill’ whenever it believes that you owe it money, whether this be for income tax, corporate tax, inheritance tax, property tax, customs duties, stamp duties or anything else. Similarly, a tax authority will not only send a ‘revised tax bill’ after you dispute the initial ‘tax bill’. It will send a ‘revised tax bill’ whenever it feels that the value of the money that you owe it has changed, either due to a person having disputed an original tax bill or due to the tax authority having discovered some other income that it should tax or due to it having changed its mind about how much to tax a person or company. Also, although a person or company may apply for ‘tax confirmation’ or ‘confirmation of tax liabilities’, the answer that he or the company will receive to such an application will be a ‘revised tax bill’. If you then still disagree with the ‘revised tax bill’, you can request the initiation of a thorough tax enquiry and the outcome of this will be a ‘tax decision’. Although a ‘tax decision’ is regarded to be final, you can ask the tax authority to review the decision, and if you still are not satisfied you can apply to a tax tribunaI ( https://www.google.co.uk/#q="tax decision" tax tribunal ), i.e., to a court specialising in tax matters.
