Digenis

Explanation:
In all probability, this is the name of Digenis Akritas (Vasileios), an epic hero of Byzantine Greece.
Son of Eirini (daughter of Andronikos Doukas) and of the Saracen Mousour, Emir of Syria.
Digenis literally means "of dual parentage", namely Greek and Saracen.
Digenis Akritas personified the epic valor of the Greek warrior.
He dedicated his life to the defence of the Byzantine Empire's frontiers - hence his last name (Akritas derived from the adjective akritikos: pertaining to a country's remote regions, its frontiers).

As Andras has pointed out, the fact that the epic hero died at the age of 31 rules out the possibility that the name is, in fact, Digenis Akritas.

It may well be the name that Andras proposes, or it may be the name in the "Papyros" Dictionary.
