Erwartungsgemäß verhielten sich die Märkte ruhig, geradezu wie in einer Kurz-Schlafphase. Auch unser Chef-Techniker, der nicht von seinen Charts lassen wollte, konnte wenig vermelden.

I am not sure what "der nicht von seinen Charts lassen wollte", in the second sentence, means. He/she did not want to get away from his/her charts?

Wider context:
This sentence is included in a short report on market behaviour published just after the Christmas pause. Tone is somewhat informal.
The "Chef-Techniker" is in charge of Tecnnical Analysis, i.e. he/she analyses charts to inform about any changes or new patterns in the market behaviour.
