Così come l'acronimo usato nel tedesco, anche FDI è di nuova creazione. Tuttavia io precederei la spiegazione e poi darei al lettore l'acronimo FDI solo per ricordargli l'ordine con cui questa regola consiglia di aumentare il carico, ossia prima aumentando la frequenza degli esercizi (F), poi la durata (D), ossia il tempo di esecuzione e, infine, l'intensità (I) dello sforzo.
