German term or phrase: Rohrkrepierer

Es ist aber nicht das erste Mal, dass ein Abkommen mit den Rebellen sozusagen als "Rohrkrepierer" endet.
Mon dico. idiomatique propose "être un pétard qui éclate dans les doigts" pour "ein Rohrkrepierer sein", une image pour le moins incongrue dans le contexte ci-dessus. Mon deuxième problème c'est le "enden" dans la phrase allemande. Je connais "sich als Rohrkrepierer erweisen" mais pas "als Rohrkrepierer enden".

Car à force de pleurer à tout bout de champ pour des futilités, on finit par ... Tout se passe comme si ce n'était qu'un non événement, un pétard mouillé ...

Explanation:
C'est du moins ce que ça m'inspire, dans le sens où un accord de ce genre ne tient jamais la route longtemps.
Attention à l'usage entre "faire long feu" et "ne pas faire long feu".

faire long feu (projet) = zu nichts führen;
ne pas faire long feu (accord etc) = nicht lange dauern; von kurzer Dauer sein

L'expression faire long feu désigne à l'origine le phénomène expliqué par Gisela (une balle qui ne part pas et se consumme lamentablement)... l'idée du pétard mouillé rejoint cette interprétation aussi...
