German term or phrase: Haube
Gerät senkrecht an der Wange anlegen und bis zum Ohransatz das Haar der Haube (oder Krone) gerade abschneiden.
Also....
Zum Schluss sollte der Hund sich einmal schütteln, damit der Sitz der Haube nochmals überprüft und ggf. korrigiert werden kann.
This text is about clipping dogs. I cannot find the translation for Haube (also referred to as "Krone"). I have found "crest" or "cap" but am not sure if either of these corresponds to the same part of the dog's anatomy.

hood or crest or crown
Explanation:
we aren't talking about any protective covering here but the hair on top of the head of the dog. You can call it hood, crest or cap, as you prefer, depending on the length of hair and breed of the dog, e.g. Yorkshire terriers have a hood, as do Bobtails, but Dachshunds have a crest, as do Setters.

neutral  ozbos: I think in this text instructions are given to clip hair from cheeks to the top so that top of the head is untouched. Agree?

-> note that they say the dog should give its head a good shake, so that the "hood" or whateva can be checked. I do that to my sheepdog and then cut to measure :)

tegmentum ?

Explanation:
In Medicine haube is Tegmentum or Roehrenschutzhaube.
Superficial layer or cover usually of animal or a plant part.
So probably that is the spot where ears are branching off.
Hope this helps.

dome

Explanation:
I don't know if this is dog talk, but in the US we sometimes refer to the top osomeone's head as the dome.
