Zoology / Big game

This is from a text about a big game nature reserve. I know that "Fährten" are tracks, but the "ziehen" is leaving me a little puzzled. Does it just mean that the reserve is home to these animals, that they are roaming freely there?

to leave (their) tracks
Explanation:
Maybe I'm missing something here, but this seems to me to be pretty straightforward.

And yes, as suggested by the asker, it implies "that the reserve is home to these animals, that they are roaming freely there".

agree  John Speese: I agree, literally leave their tracks, and more figuratively something like: Elk (red deer) along with wisent and bison make their home here. If they have both wisent and bison it seems they have exotic species.

Explanation:

Ziehen seems to be the general term for the "locomotion" of deer.

Explanation:
I see it more like Wendy, here are some alternatives. The animals graze together, ranging over the same territory.
