Zeltbühnen open air stages Explanation: Big tent-like structures with a stage - to be seen at any pop festival. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 31 mins (2005-03-28 12:20:58 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- The purpose of the covering is to protect both the artistes and, above all, the electronics/electrics from inclement weather - but slanting rain has been known to cause big time problems! The audience are not covered/protected they are under open heaven. The more modern structures have a form of curtain to close it after or between shows and overnight. Open air derives from the fact that these stages are not in a permanent structure i.e. a brick etc. building. |

Zeltbühnen (covered) stages Explanation: On the Glastonbury website, they are simply referred to as 'stages': http://www.efestivals.co.uk/festivals/glastonbury/info-WhatT... They are not really 'open-air' because they are covered, nor are they 'tent' because they are not completely enclosed. Maybe something with 'canopy'? -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 24 mins (2005-03-28 12:13:48 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- A covered stage is assembled for the concerts at the base of the grandstand allowing for excellent viewing from all sections. (See picture) http://www.musiconthehenley.com/Venue.htm Large outdoor covered stage measuring 20\' (6m) wide and 15\' (4.5m) depth. The stage floor is 3\' (1m) off the ground. This is the toughest stage around made from steel girders bolted together on site with 18mm ply floor supported over wooden flooring joists. Complete with a tented roof. Rear and side walls as required at no extra cost.... (also with picture) http://regencyevents.com/en-gb/dept_29.html -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 58 mins (2005-03-28 12:48:20 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- ‘open-air stage’ - ‘Freilichtbühne’ http://www.bavarian-alps.info/music_theatre/altusried_theatr... There may be a retractable roof for both audience and performers as at the Bad Hersfeld Stiftsruine http://de.geocities.com/stiftsruine/festspiele/grundlegendes... -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 2 hrs 55 mins (2005-03-28 14:44:41 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- If these people are presenting works of art (paintings etc), \'artists\' is fine. If they are musicians, they are better described as \'performers\'. internationale Künstler präsentieren auf 4 Zeltbühnen ihr Können... >...performers from all over the world will show off their talents on four covered stages... |
