German term or phrase: entgegen (context)
I just don't get the sentence structure here. The context is a new railway line between Hunan and Shanghai

The delineation/description of the route is from Hunan beginnend entgegen the route kilometerage, which begins in Shanghai.

opposite
Explanation:
The delineation/description of the line starts at Hunan opposite to the mileage of the line, which begins in Shanghai.

Anmerkung: Strecke = line, Kilometrierung = mileage laut UIC (Union Internationale de Chemin de fer)

The description of the line begins at Hunan and ends at the terminus station at Shanghai, where the line commences.

Thanks both of you. Now I get it, it's just worded to be complicated...

Explanation:
