Vielen Dank für die tolle Beteiligung & die hilfreichen Referenzen und Meinungen. Letztlich ist's dann Geschmacksache - es gibt ja mehrere valide Optionen. Mir gefällt discovery trail von Armorel Young am besten. Jetzt müsste ich die Option nur noch auswählen können...

Ah OK, thank you. I don't know, it'll take you less than half a sentence to explain that, e.g., in parentheses (as they did here in-text: "loop trails begin and end in the same location": https://support.alltrails.com/support/solutions/articles/247... ).

And yes, as I said, I overlooked that part. Since I disagree with two-thirds of the options given in the answer as well as the slash between "trail" and "loop," I'm just left with no other alternative than a post in the discussion box.

Yes, you are correct, I've overlooked this part. Besides the fact that her main answer was "scenic", two of the three options included the word as well (and discovery + scenic is a bit too much, in my opinion) and everyone seemed so "ecstatic" when they read the word "scenic" - while I am not.

That "loop" is hardly common English is a curious statement considering I can find it virtually everywhere across the United States, either as trail loop or loop trail or just loop:

Armorel submitted discovery! Loop just doesn't do it for me, as it's hardly common English and the trails must be in tourist-speak, something non-natives can understand or at least puzzle out. Definitely trail. Also, the guides, maps, what-have-you, have lines defining the given trail,how it runs, length, etc., which means loop/roundabout/circuit/circle are all superflous and would only confuse the reader.

Warum du das nicht als Antwort eingestellt hast, erschließt sich mir nicht. Fand ich die passendste Lösung, da "Erlebnis" meist "discovery" oder "adventure" bedeutet. Mir erschließt sich ebenso wenig, warum "scenic" bevorzugt wird, was meist auf Naturschönheit hinweist.

Der Fragesteller hat allerdings explizit - und das wird online bestätigt - darauf hingewiesen, dass es sich um "abwechslungsreiche" Strecken handelt; dazu kommt, dass diese Sehenswürdigkeiten (Klöster etc.) beinhalten können oder thematisch aufgeteilt sind. Das transportiert man mit "scenic" mMn nicht wirklich (mal abgesehen davon, dass das Wort so "ubiquitous" ist wie "natural"...).

Im Übrigen kommt dazu, dass es sich hier eigentlich um "trail sections" handelt (Fragesteller: "Teilstücke des Eifelstiegs"). Das wird u.U. mit "loop" übersetzt, wobei dies leider auch Autofahrten sein können.

Wobei mich Mairs Ablehnung des Begriffes "loop" etwas verwundert:

Yeah, I like "Discovery trail", or "Circular discovery trail" if you want to keep the "loop" aspect. "Loop" sounds pretty weird to me, but I think it's maybe one of those things where different English dialects have different norms...

discovery trail? Da lernt man was (wenn es z.B. Infotafeln gibt) und kann schöne Landschaft genießen. Ansonsten finde ich scenic loop auch sehr passend. Steht in jeder englischen Karte so drin (scenic walk, scenic drive, what have you).

The web site wants to talk up its hiking loop. The text in the link goes on to say that it is a premium hiking loop and why, but it remains a hiking loop. The Saar web site does the same with its dream loops. I guess if one feels that a sale really needs to be made.
