I have never heard of crystal peaks - crystal lakes or rivers, yes, but not peaks. Have you? I would normally describe peaks as rugged, rocky or snow-capped (as here) etc. but not crystal. Any ideas what they might mean?

Explanation:
Just imagine the sun glinting off the rocks and the snow ..

Admittedly, it's a slightly unusual image, but I think it works OK in English as well.

The adjective is 'kristallen' ...

Or you could go for the word both Colin and I came up with - glinting

Their shadows were projected on to the white billows below them. Each saw his own shadow surrounded by a halo, the shadow arms were huge, extending outwards from the centred head like the hands of a massive clock, sweeping the rainbow circumference. An archipelago of *glinting peaks* in a white ragged cloud-sea stretched to the horizon.

All quite poetic, really!
