An Austrian regional mayor talks about an issue affecting his region for an historical trail audio. I'm totally mystified by "Hofübernehmer" and can't find a translation for it anywhere. I think it roughly means people taking over their parents' farms, or taking over farms generally, but I don't know a neat way of saying this, and I need something neat, because this is supposed to be spoken text, so it has to be easy to say aloud. TIA for your assistance with this most obscure word.

I think I'd write round it. Maybe something along the lines of "many young people moving into farming for the first time or starting out in farming / taking up farming.

Perhaps a simplified version of the German - but it should be clear enough in your context. Plus it's conveniently short.
