Marira zum Guten Rathe our lady of good counsel Explanation: Kim, why don't you propose your answer? (And maybe "our lady of good counsel" in parentheses? http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/11361a.htm) I don't won't to gather your points... Rat = Rathe = "counsel" |

Maria zum Guten Rat Explanation: 297 hits for "Maria zum Guten Rat", none for "Rathe" ... The main sights of Hergiswil are: an old clergy house, the church, the chapel Maria zum guten Rat, old mansion Thumigerhaus, and a glazier's workshop with ... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hergiswil -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 6 mins (2005-09-25 21:05:57 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- There are, however, 9 Google hits for "Maria VOM Guten Rathe", which must be the old spelling of Rat. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 1 hr 8 mins (2005-09-25 22:07:52 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- By the way, (as far as I can see), not one English website mentioning the chapel "Maria zum Guten Rat" adds any English translation of the name. Although it would certainly be useful for the reader, I just thought I'd point that out. |

Maria zum Guten Rathe Explanation: Leave as is. Just to add to Trudy and Teresa. This is not just a church, it is also a geographical name. If your tourists are hiking through Austria, how far do you think they will get asking for place names or studying a map when the guide uses English names? |
