German term or phrase: Tasten 1, 2, 7 und 8 blinken zweimal nacheinander jeweils dreimal kurz blau
This phrase appears in the instructions for a hands-free kit. I am not confident that I have rendered the meaning correctly and would be grateful for opinions.
So far my thinking is 'Buttons 1, 2, 7 and 8 flash briefly blue twice in succession three times each.'

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thank you.

English translation:Keys 1, 2, 7 & 8 will flash blue three times, one after another. The sequence will then be repeated.
Explanation:
Keys 1, 2, 7 and 8 will flash blue three times, one after another. The sequence will then be repeated.

a) On a keypad, they are called keys rather than buttons.
b) A flash is by definition brief, making this adjective redundant.
c) Flashes do not 'highlight' keys (or even buttons) except for the purpose of allowing the user to locate them on the keypad in the dark. In this case, they are signalling something.
d) The actual total of flashes per key is 2 x 3 = 6.

Yes, it's longer, but accuracy is more important than conciseness in a manual.

Buttons 1,2,7 and 8 briefly flash blue twice for a total of three times each

Explanation:
The succession bit seems redundant as it might clutter up the sentence without adding essential meaning (Things may be different, when flashing in quick succession).

two sequences of three flashes each will highlight buttons 1, 2, 7 and 8

Explanation:
In der Annahme, dass es nicht um physische Tasten (keys), sondern um deren Darstellung auf einem Display (buttons) geht.

Also total sechs "Blitze" in 2 Gruppen zu je drei.

Nicht ganz eindeutig klar ist, ob bei jedem der 6 Blitze alle 4 Buttons gleichzeitig leuchten, oder ob die Buttons nacheinander abgearbeitet werden.

Ich setze hoch auf Ersteres.

-> Many thanks, Johanna. I nearly didn't post it, cos it was barely different.

neutral  Lancashireman: Hi Wendy. 'Nacheinander' refers to the sequence 1, 2, 7 and 8. 'Twice in succession' is not the same. Also, you have missed out the colour blue.
