Here is an attempt... Explanation: Who or what is "Z"? A company? Here is an attempt (just an attempt!) - you do need a hell of a lot of imagination to translate this sentence - good luck!!! :-) ...with the aim to use Z's online presentation in order to cement its market position even further |

den Online-Auftritt als eigene Ergebniseinheit noch stärker im Markt zu position establish the online presence of the Z as a ? in its own right Explanation: I guess that z is the football-club and x is whover does their marketing, but that is not really important. But It would help to know who or what y is. A search engine? An afiliate? I don't think that 'eigene Ergebniseinheit' as it is used here is really an established phrase. If Y were a search engine or something like similar, the sentence could be understood to mean that they are trying to direct more traffic to their site. On the other hand all those talk about restructuring makes me guess, that they might be talking about establishing the site as division in its own right, instead of it being part of whatever division it was before. really just guessing here. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 6 hrs 52 mins (2004-02-18 10:47:06 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- If \'Internetportal von Y\' and \'Online-Auftritt des Z\' indeed refer to the same thing, then the restructuring interpretation makes the most sense. |

my read below Explanation: ...with the objective of (further) reinforcing Z's online presence as an independent entity in the market. Maybe "separate entity" would also work. Or, if you want to get into marketing speak, and I think that would actually be kind of cool (kewl...) here, given the reference to soccer - ...reinforcing Z's online presence as an independent player in the market. It seems to me that they are trying to distinguish between the various subsidiaries (which I assume are X, Y, and Z), and thus I think it is important that the independence of this subsidiary be stressed. The Ergebniseinheit is certainly puzzling - I suspect it means that they want to position it as an independent entity that get its own online visits/hits. Is Z perhaps a subsidiary that operates only online and, for whatever reason, needs to be distinguished from the others? -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 12 hrs 48 mins (2004-02-18 16:42:54 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Well, color me blonde -- it didn\'t even occur to me to check Schäfer for Ergebniseinheit! In the light of a new (grey, snowy) day, and of your additional explanation, it all makes a whole bunch more sense now. The parent company is simply trying to reinforce the online presence of of the BVB as a separate (or additional) profit center. Not so sure that I\'d still want to go with the independent player idea, then... Too bad, I thought that was somewhat clever. Then I\'d suggest something like Increased emphasis on the Club\'s internet portal with the objective of reinforcing its online presence as a separate profit center. But I know you\'ll come up with an elegant solution, Markus :-) |
