"Es werden Genehmigungen für den Sportfischfang mit Angelhaken, mit der Unterwasserharpune, mit der Schleppangel und der ***Legangel****, wie auch die Genehmigungen für den Thunfischfang ausgegeben"

Slightly stumped by the "Legangel" here. This sentence occurs in a tourism brochure relating to fishing in Croatia. I have found a good definition here:

http://www.zeno.org/Adelung-1793/A/Legangel, die

But no English equivalent as yet.

dropline

Explanation:
Could be a dropline:
"A dropline is a commercial fishing device, consisting of a long fishing line set vertically down into the water, with a series of fishing hooks attached to snoods. Droplines may be set either down underwater cliffs or just in the water column. They have a weight at the bottom of the line and a float at the top. They are not usually as long as longlines and have fewer hooks."

longlining (as opposed here to Sleppangel, trolling) may the be best term, especially in the (possible) context of tuna fishing; longlining is used by commercial tuna fleets in Croatia:

neutral  David Moore (X): I don't see any mention of a float in the definition offered by the poster, do you?

-> Since the definition is from 1796, I'm not sure how reliable is. A float or bobber seems a standard part of the rig. It could be that a longline is also meant here. Some good images here: http://www.dpiw.tas.gov.au/inter.nsf/WebPages/ALIR-4YD59M?op...
