to present/use/field Explanation: In football the term would be to field a team- it is a merely turn of phrase here that implies they are using the team that will then be up against the challengers in the next race. Field might seem strange when taking into account that it is about sailing but it is probably the best option in this case. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 3 hrs (2012-01-17 10:36:13 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- and it would be better to say crew than team. the challengers will sail against each other.... Explanation: the challengers will sail against each other in a round-robin competition to determine who advances to race Alinghi in the America's Cup, www.actionnadventure.com/Alinghi.html -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 16 days (2012-02-02 08:04:06 GMT) Post-grading -------------------------------------------------- Also nudged by Colin, I must say I find your selection a little unusual, especially as Mary wrote the "team" will sail against each other. A physical impossibility if there is only one team! |
